Down to 0.1 g high-precision weighing

A high-performance warehouse picking trolley paired with Solea, a Warehouse Execution System (WES) developed by Balea, the Balea Shopeur reinvents the pick-to-cart method by combining high-precision on-board weighing, artificial intelligence, real-time operator guidance and put-to-light.

This smart picking solution is built for environments where errors carry a cost (pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food and beverage, e-commerce, retail, manufacturing, 3PL) and turns order picking into a smooth, reliable, fully data-driven process.

Balea Shopeur :
the smart order picking trolley

Beyond the numbers, the Balea Shopeur tackles the concrete challenges holding Supply Chain leaders back today.

The cost of errors disappears

Higher customer satisfaction, fewer disputes, a smaller carbon footprint

On-board weighing (down to 0.1 g precision) combined with Solea’s machine-learning weight intelligence validates every pick in real time: extra, missing or wrong item, the anomaly is detected instantly. Paired with put-to-light, which guides the operator to the correct drop-off location, the Balea Shopeur eliminates the root causes of picking errors and achieves 100% order accuracy. Fewer inventory discrepancies, returns and rework and a measurable commercial argument with your end customers.

Operator cost per order collapses

Boosted productivity, fast ROI, an optimal Cost to Serve

Pick up to 48 orders in true simultaneity, not the sequential multi-order mode offered by most solutions on the market. One pick, one scan, and several orders are validated at once. Artificial intelligence optimizes the picking path, cuts travel and consolidates picks. The result: up to 600 picks per hour in batch picking / cluster picking, no micro-stoppages, and a steady pace sustained by electric assistance.

You manage on data, not gut feeling

Gesture-level granularity, early detection of drift

Paired with Solea, the Balea Shopeur continuously feeds back the data from every pick (pace, anomalies, volumes) into a single dashboard. The logistics supervisor steps in before discrepancies turn into disputes. AI-driven predictive maintenance anticipates interventions and neutralizes unplanned downtime.

Activity peaks are no longer an issue

A modular, scalable solution also available for rental

Add a cart, absorb the extra volume, no IT or mechanical configuration, no building work. The rental offer lets you cover seasonal peaks, or test before you invest, without committing your CAPEX.

Ergonomics by design for your pickers

Lower absenteeism, better retention, easier ramp-up

Bidirectional electric assistance, 360° mobility in narrow aisles, a scale tilted at 30°, a roller to ease carton insertion: every detail of the Balea Shopeur reduces physical strain. In a sector where 93% of occupational illnesses are MSDs (musculoskeletal disorders), this is not a comfort feature, it is a direct HR and financial lever. And the ergonomic operator interface enables immediate onboarding, including for temporary workers during peak periods.

Painless IT integration

WMS and WCS compatibility

Solea interfaces with WMS, WCS and goods-to-person systems in a fully agnostic way. The internal IT resources required remain limited. In practice: a controlled, fast deployment, with no trade-offs forced onto your technical roadmap.

Business continuity, guaranteed

French industrial reliability and resilience by design

Hardware designed and manufactured in Montpellier, France; software available in HA (High Availability) mode. If one cart goes down, the rest of the fleet keeps operating. Low dependence on Wi-Fi coverage and latency: picking data is kept in local memory, so order picking continues without interruption.

Solea: the software intelligence
that powers the Balea Shopeur

The Balea Shopeur is more than a connected picking trolley. It is the alliance of premium industrial hardware and Solea, the software developed by Balea, which gives the cart true operational intelligence. Solea :

What is a picking trolley?

A picking trolley (also called an order picking cart or, in its intelligent version, a smart cart) is a piece of logistics equipment that lets an operator pick the items for one or several orders in a single run.

As the cornerstone of the pick-to-cart method in man-to-goods picking, it directly influences three critical warehouse KPIs: picks per hour, error rate, and the physical strain of the workstation.

In an environment where order picking accounts for 45 to 75% of a warehouse's operating costs, the picking trolley becomes a performance tool in its own right, expected to secure the flow, guide the operator and support multi-order batch picking.

Options and packs : a trolley designed to adapt to your warehouse

The Balea Shopeur is designed to adapt to every logistics environment.

Beyond the base configuration, specialized packs enrich the cart, starting with the InstaPick pack: built-in visual proof.  One photo per order line and per carton: at every validation, latest-generation Digicams instantly photograph the contents of each carton.

Total traceability

Images are time-stamped and indexed by order, customer, delivery location or product.

Direct access from Solea

Instantly retrieve the visual proof of every prepared order.

No dispute left unanswered

complete traceability, irrefutable proof for every order shipped. A true claim killer !

A specific requirement ?

Because every warehouse is unique, our French engineering teams also design custom-built Balea Shopeur carts.

Use cases : optimizing warehouse order picking with the Balea Shopeur

The Balea Shopeur adapts to the specific constraints of each sector.

Smart picking cart or goods-to-person :
how do you choose the right solution?

Supply Chain decision-makers weigh up two families of solutions: goods-to-person systems (AMRs) and smart picking carts. Each has its own domain of relevance.

AMR robots make sense in very large, single-flow, highly standardized warehouses with CAPEX available and a long roadmap. The Balea Shopeur can also complement an existing goods-to-person setup: in an ABC organization, it handles fast-moving SKUs (class A) while the goods-to-person system processes B and C items.

For the vast majority of B2B and B2C warehouses, smart picking remains the most effective choice on three criteria :

ROI

Deployment without building work, sizing based on order flow (not on inventory), return on investment in 10 to 18 months.

Floor-level acceptance

A human-centric approach: the technology adapts to the operator. Fast onboarding, temporary workers included.

Resilience

No single point of failure: one cart down or a network outage, and the fleet keeps running. A structural robustness that centralized goods-to-person systems cannot offer.

What are the different types of order picking trolleys ?

Four main families : the manual trolley (paper-based or scanner tracking), the multi-tier trolley (several orders picked in sequence), the classic assisted picking trolley (light guidance, scanner, WMS guidance) and the smart picking cart (on-board weighing, put-to-light, proprietary software, end-to-end optimization of the picking process).

The Balea Shopeur is the most advanced solution in this category.

The main methods are traditional picking (one order at a time), batch picking or cluster picking (several orders grouped into a single run), wave picking (picking in sequenced waves), zone picking (one operator per zone) and pick-to-cart (the trolley-based method, the most common in both B2B and B2C). The Balea Shopeur natively supports batch picking, true-simultaneity pick-to-cart, and pick-and-pack.

Pick-to-light guides the operator on the racking side: an LED lights up at the location of the product to be picked. Put-to-light works the other way around, on the cart side: an LED designates the drop-off location. Particularly well suited to multi-order batch picking, it is the technology on board the Balea Shopeur.

Four criteria: daily order volume (including carton typology) and SKU mix, quality requirements (the average cost of a picking error), the physical constraints of the warehouse (aisles, height, floor), and IT maturity (WMS in place, integration capacity). An on-site logistics audit remains the best way to identify the optimal configuration.

ROI first : the Balea Shopeur costs far less, deploys without building work, and is sized on the flow of orders to ship not on the number of items to store. Then resilience: no single point of failure; one cart stopping does not stop the fleet. It is particularly well suited to high-velocity class A picking. Finally, scalability as your order volumes evolve. The two systems can also work together to outperform.

Yes. Solea interfaces with the leading WMS and WCS platforms on the market, as well as with goods-to-person architectures. Project timelines are short and the IT resources required remain limited.
