What are the different types of order picking trolleys ?
Four main families : the manual trolley (paper-based or scanner tracking), the multi-tier trolley (several orders picked in sequence), the classic assisted picking trolley (light guidance, scanner, WMS guidance) and the smart picking cart (on-board weighing, put-to-light, proprietary software, end-to-end optimization of the picking process).

What are the main picking methods ?
The main methods are traditional picking (one order at a time), batch picking or cluster picking (several orders grouped into a single run), wave picking (picking in sequenced waves), zone picking (one operator per zone) and pick-to-cart (the trolley-based method, the most common in both B2B and B2C). What is the difference between pick-to-light and put-to-light ?
Pick-to-light guides the operator on the racking side: an LED lights up at the location of the product to be picked. Put-to-light works the other way around, on the cart side: an LED designates the drop-off location. Particularly well suited to multi-order batch picking, it is the technology on board the Balea Shopeur.
How do I choose a picking trolley for my warehouse ?
Four criteria: daily order volume (including carton typology) and SKU mix, quality requirements (the average cost of a picking error), the physical constraints of the warehouse (aisles, height, floor), and IT maturity (WMS in place, integration capacity).
